TO BE A CHRISTIAN IS TO BELIEVE AND FOLLOW JESUS CHRIST
The Bible tells us about God's rescue mission to bring us into his family forever. A verse in the Bible that captures this message in a nutshell is this:
'For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.’ (John 3 verse 16)

GOOD NEWS
Christianity is about God rescuing us. This rescue was achieved through the death of Jesus on a cross. It was necessary because of a problem called sin - the way each of us has rejected God, disobeyed him and gone our own way. But we are accountable to God and will face his just punishment.
However, out of his great love for the people he made, God provided a way for our relationship with him to be restored - not through anything we could do to fix things, but by sending his Son Jesus to take the punishment we ourselves deserve.
It's by acknowledging our mistakes and putting our trust in Jesus to be our Saviour, that we are rescued and able to live in joyful harmony with God at the centre of our lives. And doing so, the Spirit of God comes and lives inside his people, and changes us to be more and more like himself, as we were originally created to be.
